Invest in a relationship with yourself
Do’s
Bring nature into your home.
I always like to bring nature into the house my favourite go-to is undoubtedly cut flowers, especially the ones grown in my back garden. I encourage all my friends to find a flower farmer near them and buy from them the flowers are always better in every way. Sometimes at certain times of the year come January or February there aren't any flowers I like to have bulbs in the house because they last for such a long time and definitely have that pick-me-up factor. I also love shells, and pine cones just things I have collected along my walks be it in the woods or on the beach. It not only adds nature it breathes life into the house and brings back memories and reminds me of my trips.
Go Big with flowers in the entrance hall.
I think it's the first place you walk into in
your home and you want to create an
impact. It's a great way to show the house
looks cared for and makes the house feel
welcoming. You don't need to use proper
vases this is where I like to let my creativity
run a little wild and express myself. So I might use
jugs, olive oil drums, baskets anything.
Do decorate your table with MIXED vases and jugs.
Incorporating flowers and eclectic vases into your table settings is a great way to add personality and charm to your gatherings, and is sure to spark conversation and delight among your guests.
I rarely have a set of vases, glasses or jugs that are the same. I am constantly looking for different sizes, shapes colours and textures. I love collecting random eclectic pieces. I think this is a really good way to show the flowers off but also your personality. Bringing in different vase heights adds drama that kind of undulating candles and flowers up and down a table brings much more of a story to the table.
Dont’s
Don’t be afraid of FLOWERS, colours, and patterns.
For me, life is too short to be boring so I embrace colour wherever I can and I think flowers do just that. They pop in a perfectly white room or shine in a wall-to-ceiling wallpapered room they make me so happy!
They also change a table or a room instantly simply by the colour flower you choose which is just so exciting for me. Seasonal flowers keep within the mood of the season which is another way you bring nature indoors.
Spring is bright sharp colours, Autumn muted watercolours and Winter is fragrant white bulbs.
Don’t follow trends
I think it’s really important not to follow trends. I think your home is really YOUR home so purely use things that you love. Only use fabrics that make you really happy and colours that make you feel alive. Try to stick to that with every decision with something you buy when decorating your home.
And your house will soon start to feel like your home. A safe happy place that you love coming home to and entertaining in. If you would like to find a flower farmer near you flowers from the Farm is my favourite website. You simply add the postcode you want the flowers delivered to and all the local flower farmers to that postcode appear. Have fun decorating and finding a new flower farmer friend.
